Palin? Really? August 29, 2008
Yesterday was a particulary great day here. T took of his training wheels and learned to ride his bike.
It was wonderful. A, C and I stood in the driveway and watched with pride as he coasted and then peddled down the drive.
As you might guess though, he’s not quite entering the tour de France yet…
This of course made me start thinking about McCain’s VP choice today.
Sure Sarah Polin has been referred to as “nice”. Sure she’s been a governor for two years. But vice-president? Really?
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism.. She has no advanced degree. She used to be on TV as an anchor. (This of course is fitting because John McCain really dislikes having ‘celebrities’ run the show.) She has absolutely zero foreign policy experience and based on the education her bio contains, I don’t think she has any academic experience in it either.
It’s a disappointing day I think for women, because the first VP candidate from the Republican party won’t be an academic scholar or an experienced legislator. Instead a woman is being handed the #2 job who used to be on ‘tv’.
While she probably has a great deal of potential, just like my son T has on his bike, I don’t think she should be placed in the #2 slot, anymore than T should take on the Tour de France this year.
